The Most Wearable Runway Trends From New York Fashion Week Fall 2018

You can whiddle down the seven days and 100+ collections of Fashion Week into a handful of key trends and takeaways that designers all seem to be in agreement on. Their execution may differ slightly, but it always seems like they’re always on the same page when it comes to a particularly standout color, or a category of prints, or a specific type collar. For fall 2018 there are 11 such trends that we foresee taking over our wardrobes very soon—such as the Legally Blonde–esque pink seen everywhere from Alexander Wang to Tory Burch, to the iridescent fabrics that made for some great Instagram bait at Calvin Klein and Maryam Nassir Zadeh. Magenta
Millennial pink has matured (and turned the saturation all the way up) for fall 2018, with designers making ample use of darker shades of magenta in their latest collection. And it’s not just a hint of it here, a touch over there—we’re talking full-blown, head-to-toe pink. Elle Woods would be proud.

Colored Tights
It’s once again time to revisit a beloved clothing item of yore: colored tights. You may not have thought to wear them since your grade school days, but bright stockings are coming back from the archives for fall 2018, thanks to designers like Tom Ford, who sent animal-print and metallic versions down his runway, and Saks Potts, which hosted one of the most Instagrammed presentations of Fashion Week.

Iridescent Fabrics
Designers are apparently thinking space-age-y for fall 2018, as iridescent, almost holographic fabrics appear all over the new collections—as dresses, as jackets, even as longline (safety?) vests.

Another entry in the “runway trends you can start copying right this second” category: the tied-all-the-way-up-into-an-oversize-knot scarf, which proved to be various brands’ favorite way to accessorize their fall collections (and really hammer home the fact that we were talking about fall).
