Spring Trends 2023

This spring, it’s time to embrace bold and vibrant colors, such as fuchsia, tangerine, and cobalt blue. These bright hues are perfect for injecting some energy into your wardrobe after the muted tones of winter. Prints are also set to be big this season, with everything from abstract designs to florals making an appearance.

  1. Puffy Sleeves

Puffy sleeves have been a popular trend for a while now, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. This season, we’ll see exaggerated puffy sleeves in everything from blouses to dresses, adding a touch of drama and femininity to any outfit.

  1. Wide Leg Pants

Skinny jeans have been a staple in our wardrobes for years, but this season, it’s all about wide-leg pants. Whether you opt for a flowing palazzo style or a more tailored look, these pants are comfortable and chic, making them perfect for spring.

  1. Retro Vibes

Fashion has a habit of repeating itself, and this season, we’ll see a resurgence of retro-inspired styles from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. Think bold prints, flared pants, and oversized sunglasses for a touch of vintage glamour.

  1. Monochromatic Looks

If you’re looking for a sleek and sophisticated way to embrace the spring trends, consider a monochromatic look. This involves wearing different shades of the same color for a chic and modern effect.

  1. Fringe Details

Fringe has been popping up on runways for several seasons now, and it’s set to be a big trend for spring 2023. From fringe bags to jackets and skirts, this playful detail adds movement and texture to any outfit.

  1. Cutouts

Cutouts have been a popular trend for a few seasons, and they’re set to continue into spring 2023. Whether it’s a subtle cutout in a blouse or a more daring design in a dress, this trend adds a touch of sexiness and edge to any outfit.

In conclusion, spring 2023 is all about embracing bold colors, prints, and retro-inspired styles, while still staying comfortable and chic. Whether you’re looking to inject some energy into your wardrobe or add a touch of drama and femininity, these trends are perfect for the season. So go ahead and have some fun with your fashion choices this spring!

The changing of the seasons from winter to spring is a most exciting time—especially sartorially. In with lighter layers, dresses, and a sense of freedom; out with heavy outerwear, knits, and boots. When it comes to the spring 2023 trends, there’s a lot to look forward to. As noted by Vogue Runway’s trend report, the collections reflected many moods: from soft and undone (read draped jersey, distressed fabrics, and other touchable textures) to utilitarian preparedness (think well-pocketed garments) and a streamlined minimalism (see smart tailoring and even smarter button-up shirting). Our editors have already begun to gravitate to a handful of these, eager to transition to the spring wardrobe.

Among these trends are a sense of practicality and an emphasis on a daily uniform. Two editors are bringing their maxi skirts and tailored vests into spring with a fresh perspective inspired by the shows, while others are looking for new ways to wear or repurpose those most cherished classics: denim or the white dress shirt, for example. Look to this shoppable spring 2023 trend guide for an inside look at what our editors are shopping now and most excited about.

Skirt Suits But Make it Fashion

Marine Serre Oriental Towels boxy tailored jacket

My new obsession is the skirt suit. Earlier this year I got one from Theory—a little cropped jacket and a mini skirt in a navy cashmere wool and it suddenly awakened in me a desire to wear them all the time. They are harder to find than one might think—the proportions need to be exactly right so I don’t feel like I am playing dress-up. In a perfect world, this desire would mean I’d get to wear a Gucci black and white wool gingham suit with the cropped jacket and knee-length pencil skirt; or maybe Marine Serre’s wallpaper floral toweling suit in shades of blue and green. –  Laia Garcia-Furtado, senior fashion news editor, Vogue Runway

Everyday Preciousness

Dries Van Noten ruffled sequined Georgette mini wrap skirt

I loved the way sequined, embroidered, and embellished midi skirts were styled on the spring 2023 runways. Paired with standard tops you already have in your wardrobe—like button downs, tees, and tanks—designers posed the question: do you really need a special occasion as an excuse or reason to wear something beautiful? Or in my case, sparkling? This season, I’m pairing the precious with the everyday, using Commission’s shimmering silver midi skirt as a base with flat black loafers, a striped button down, and a boring gray sweater. I love the unexpected surprise something sparkly gives when worn underneath otherwise completely average wardrobe staples! – Madeline Fass, market editor

Prada printed satin midi skirt

I recently wore Prada’s satin midi skirt during New York Fashion Week, which debuted on the designer’s spring 2023 runway in Milan last fall. The style evokes a sense of “unfinishedness,” featuring an irregularly dyed print and a slit that is made to look like the skirt is torn. – Lisa Aiken, executive fashion director, Vogue.com

New Neoclassical

Giambattista Valli sequin-trimmed boucle mini dress

I am always smitten with ladylike pieces, and few do that better than Giambattista Valli. For his spring collection, he sent out pieces down the runway which featured, yes, his signature bouclé tweeds but also pieces adorned with gold braided shoulder straps and gold piping. (Several other labels, from Pucci to Bevza, also embraced the same vibe.) The effect is one that feels Grecian but with a modern twist. Let’s call it the new, neoclassical. – Lilah Ramzi, commerce editor

As I tend to mostly buy outerwear, pants, and shoes, I am always on the hunt for tops. What I’ve realized, however, is while I appreciate a lovely blouse or statement shirt, I am really a button-up shirt or plain T-shirt devotee. The transformed iterations of these classics and fresh ways to style simple shirting found in abundance in spring 2023 collections are all to my benefit. Luckily for me, I have Peter Do, Stella McCartney, and Bottega Veneta to look to for styling inspiration on how to reincorporate dress shirts with a sense of relevance for the spring season. And Tory Burch, Dries Van Noten, and Miu Miu have me wanting and wearing delicate layers of subdued color via long-sleeve or turtleneck tops with my trousers and jeans for the rest of winter. —Madeline Fass, market editor

Late last year, I suddenly decided that my wardrobe was absolutely lacking a pair of red shoes, and I’ve been on the lookout ever since. Some great pieces have started to trickle in in the new year, but now I can’t decide what vibe to go for. Do I want something classic (Manolo Blahnik’s Carolyn kitten-heel slingback), something comfortable yet unhinged (Khaite’s Marcy shearling flat), or something less comfortable but absolutely, devastatingly glamorous (Alaïa’s Coeur mule)? The jury’s still out, but for sure, 2023 will be my year of the red shoe. —Laia Garcia-Furtado, senior fashion news editor
