The Art of Tucking In For Men!

The Art of Tucking in Shirts every Gentleman Needs to Practice

Is there a need to teach men something they have been doing since they were 4?

Well, actually yes. Just observe the ones around you. How many of them do you see sporting an unkempt-looking and billowy shirt? Or how many times have you noticed a guy delivering a talk who has been unconsciously re-tucking his shirt around four times while having a less than 7-minute presentation? (Heck, that’s a lot!)

Based on those examples, I surmise, most men have no system for tucking in shirts. Perhaps even you! Let’s find a solution for this predicament.

This article’s goal is to show you some tactics that can help eliminate the nuisance of an un-tucked or wrongly tucked shirt.

What to tuck and what not to tuck

Text by Antonio Centeno

After tucking in your shirt, you should have a clean gig line—an imaginary straight line running in front of your body–starting from the middle portion of your chin down to your crotch.

A properly-tucked shirt will sit with the shirt placket (that’s the rectangle of fabric where the front buttons are situated) perfectly lines up with the fly of your pants. The belt buckle and your pants button should be centered and aligned tidily.

Here’s another way of tucking in a shirt. This one originates from military organizations.
