Getting ready to fly through SFO? We’ve implemented a number of changes to protect our guests and employees from COVID-19. Here’s what you can expect:

Health and Safety Measures

Your health is our priority, and we continue to actively work with our local, state, and federal health officials to protect against COVID-19. We’re pleased to share that through our efforts we’ve received the Airport Health Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI) World, a program that evaluates new health and safety measures and procedures introduced at airports worldwide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of measures you’ll see:

• COVID-19 testing is available in the International Terminal, Terminal 3, and near our Long-Term Parking facility. Learn more about the tests offered through our on-site COVID-19 testing options.
• The Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) single-dose vaccine is now available at our SFO Medical Clinic. All individuals 18 years of age and older, including arriving and departing passengers of any nationality or country of residence, are welcome! Appointments are recommended. Walk-in may be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Book an appointment.
• SFO staff continue increased cleaning of our facilities with an EPA-approved effective germicidal agent that kills all coronaviruses and is outlined in CDC recommendations for cleaning and disinfection.
• Our team employs no-touch cleaning systems, including all-surface equipment and battery-operated disinfectant sprayers, to clean, rinse and dry surfaces and recover the water used without ever touching a surface.
• Hundreds of hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the terminals.
• For added protection, clear plastic barriers have been installed in locations where face-to-face interactions might take place, such as TSA podiums, information desks, and airline ticket counters.

Procedures and Tips for Travelers

• Face masks: Federal law requires wearing a mask at all times in and on the airport. Failure to comply may result in removal and denial of re-entry. Refusing to wear a mask while at the airport is a violation of Federal Law and individuals may be subject to penalties for non-compliance. • As a courtesy, please maintain physical distancing when possible.
• Traveling with hand sanitizer: The TSA is allowing one liquid hand sanitizer container up to 12 ounces per passenger in carry-on bags until further notice. Passengers can expect that these larger hand sanitizer containers may need to be screened separately, which will add some time to their checkpoint screening experience.
• Minimize your touch points: consider using mobile boarding passes and bringing only carry-on luggage.
• Check your airline’s procedures: Many airlines have procedures in place to enhance safety for passengers and employees, including requirements for specific types of face masks while onboard their aircraft. Visit your airline’s website to learn more.
• Find out what’s open: Most of our restaurants, stores and passenger amenities are open, however some have adjusted their hours to meet current customer demand. To find out what’s open, check our shopping, dining and amenities listings.
